Summer sun exposure leads to sun damage and dehydrated skin.
We all know that the result is blotchy, uneven tone, often with flakiness or a feeling that you can never moisturize enough. This can lead to sensitized skin if not resolved because dehydrated skin means an impaired barrier and that means the barrier (the natural moisture factor -NMF) of your skin is compromised. If this is the case, then your skin cannot retain moisture and it cannot fend off microbes.
That's one issue. The other issue is the tone and texture of our skin. Hyperpigmentation is most often UV damage to the skin cells deep in the dermal layer and by the time these cells travel to the surface of our faces (or arms, chest of anywhere on our body), they have melanin/pigment deposits that cause the blotchy appearance and dark spots. This process can take years to surface. Keep in mind that most sun damage occurs during our childhoods and it begins to surface in 30's and beyond.
Perhaps you've had facials and are using products to lighten your sun spots already. That's great! But what about that one time when you forgot the sunscreen or your hat and you got a little more sun than you planned on? What happens is that any lightening you accomplished is negated - I know, I'm full of bad news - sorry!
That's not the end of the story though! Even if this happens, we can get to work with a combination of peels in studio and brightening, hydrating products at home. So yes, we can make progress again and that where a series of peels comes into play.
With a series of peels under the Repair-Hydrate-Lighten service:
Repair your skin's barrier function, deeply hydrate to restore skin health and vitality and lighten sun damage. Done in a series of 3. Two series are recommended.
These are focused treatments. You'll receive a Brightening peel with Nano-Infusion technology for better product penetration, Red LED light to stimulate collagen, improve texture and firmness, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and to decrease inflammation. More Nano-Infusion of serums and hydration follows at the end of your service.
Since our southern California winter is a short 5 months, I recommend scheduling these treatments from November-March.
If you haven't been using brightening and lightening products, I recommend starting in October or at least 2 weeks prior to starting your peel series. This helps your skin suppress melanin or melanin-producing enzymes and prepares your skin for the peels to follow.
